For German exporters the Hermes security bond has been introduced by the German government, covering not only economical, but also political risks. In general it can be said, that most of the African countries are considered to be among those countries with high risks, which is basically the consequence of the lack of stability on the African continent. In terms of project and credit finance the KfW and the AKA-Ausfuhrkreditgesellschaft offer a variety of possibilities for interested companies. The so called Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau KfW was founded by the German government to support export activities of German companies. This is in a similar way also applicable to the AKA, but this is not a government institution, but a syndicate of currently 38 banks.
